Your roof is beyond a doubt the
most important element of protecting your home from the
elements. A leaking roof can easily cause hundreds or
thousands of dollars in damage if it isn’t dealt with
quickly. If your roof isn’t properly equipped to deal
with all that Mother Nature can dish out, you are
risking serious damage to your home and belongings.
While leaks are a common symptom that can be caused by a
number of roof problems, they aren’t the only sign of a
damaged roof. If you notice that your heating and cooling
bills are climbing higher, that may be a sign of a damaged
roof. The roof keeps warm air in the winter and keeps it out
in the summer, so damage to the roof might cause such
fluctuations. If you’re seeing any of these signs, it may
time for roof replacement.
A good roof should last you for at least a decade, if not
two. Unfortunately, many contractors aren’t as careful as
they should be, and in some cases roofs installed by
inexperienced or low-end contractors can fail in as little
as 5 years. If you have to get your roof replaced, either
because it has reached the end of its life or because of
poor installation, you should make sure to choose the right
contractor. You can count on the expert roofers from Raven
Roofing to replace your leaky or otherwise damaged roof with
a high quality, long lasting roof.
One of the advantages of roof replacement is that you can
change the material composition of your roof. If you bought
your current home, you likely didn’t have a say in how the
roof was built in the first place. There are pros and cons
to each sort of roof type, as well as different looks for
each type. If you’re interested in trying a metal roof or
clay roof, or even installing a skylight for example, a roof
replacement is a good time to make the change.
Roof replacement isn’t a small investment, but it is
often a necessary one to protect your home from the ravages
of wind and rain damage. Keep in mind that a roof is a
long-term investment. With proper care, your new roof can
last a good 20-30 years or possibly even longer.
Our Roofing
Process

Remove
Old Material
Any old
materials removed or debris created from the installation is
safely placed into dumpsters to avoid unnecessary messes or
accidents. We do all we can to make the installation as
clean as possible and we recycle as much of the materials as
possible. We are a socially responsible company preserving
our environment and avoiding waste. A number of
manufacturers are starting to recycle shingles. Raven
Roofing will actively pursue this option as it becomes
available in our area.
Ice and
Water Shield (Peel and Stick Underlayment)
Once your roof is prepared for a new roof, one of the first
tasks is to install the Ice and Water Shield. The Ice and
Water Shield offers
much needed protection in the most vulnerable areas of your
roof. We place it at all metal areas and penetrations. The Ice and Water Shield protects your new
roofing system and gives you the peace and security knowing
that your roof can handle even the worst hurrican season.
Ask you Raven Roofing Representative for more info.
Once the Ice
and Water Shield has been installed, next we place a layer
of Felt Paper. Raven Roofing uses a D-226 30# felt as
required by code but prefers to us a high quality,
fiberglass-reinforced felt, like Shingle-Mate from GAF.
Shingle-Mate is superior to standard 15# felt paper because
it lays flatter, easier to work with, and most importantly,
lasts longer. 15# felt is an inexpensive, low quality
alternative that is used by many roofers to make there price
more attractive.

Shingles
Now we are ready to install the shingles. When
choosing a shingle, it’s important to take into account the
style, size, and location of your home; and of course, your
personal preferences. We have years of experience
installing all types of asphalt shingles and metal roofing.
Ventilation
System
Sealing up your
home is important to conserving energy. But equally
important is your homes ability to have ventilation. If
homes have poor ventilation problems can occur such as
peeling interior paint, stains on ceilings, or even mold and
mildew. A good ventilation system is balanced, with intake
(usually under the eaves) and exhaust (usually on or near
peak of roof) vents working together to get stale air out
and fresh air in. Ridge vents, like Lomanco’s
LoOmni Roll are an effective ventilation tool and look
great, too. Because the vent is covered with shingles, it is
hardly noticeable and that adds beauty to the overall
appearance of your home.
Communication is Top Priority
We will communicate with you on a
regular basis providing the status of the installation. Each
installation is assigned a Supervisor that inspects the
project on a regular basis. This is to ensure quality and
uncover any areas that may need perfecting.
Safety We take safety
seriously at Raven Roofing. We are guided by OSHA
regulations and train our workers on a regular basis. It is
important to review the basics and keep abreast of the
newest technologies found in the marketplace today. Our
foreman have been through extensive OSHA training and will
continue training in the future.
